What is Microneedling?
Microneedling, sometimes referred to as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive treatment that does wonders to your skin. Using a device that tiny, fine needles, our aestheticians at Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa create incredibly small punctures to the top layer of the skin, which causes the body to create new collagen.
One of our client’s favorite things about microneedling is that there’s virtually no downtime. Make-up is basically just the only thing you’ll skip for the day. Microneedling is amazing for all types of skin and is usually a great option for everyone as the benefits are numerous. You’ll receive a medical-grade topical cream that helps numb your face, and usually, the discomfort is minimal to none. But just as important as the treatment itself, you can trust that your service provider is well-trained as our team is made up of licensed aestheticians and registered nurses. Everyone can benefit from microneedling; chances are, you’ve been exposed to sun damage or at least have some signs of aging.
Microneedling Benefits
Microneedling hosts a number of benefits for your skin. Many come in to remedy acne scars or reduce sun damage. Your skin will thank you in the long run for the anti-aging assistance you’ve done for it now. Here are a few of the incredible benefits microneedling can do for your skin:
- Acne Scars:
Like the ghosts of teenage years past, acne scars can haunt our faces for years. Microneedling is effective, that in a report from the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health, is stated that 100% of participants reported significant improvements of signs of scaring with microneedling. - Sun Damage:
As an Arizona resident, the sun is inevitable. And if you’re like most of us, you skipped the sunscreen in your younger years, resulting in pigmentation and discoloration, i.e sunspots. Microneedling stimulates collagen growth, which reduces this kind of damage. - Enlarged Pores:
This is such a common complaint and so many of us feel like we suffer from tiny potholes on our face; enlarged pores are the worst! Luckily, microneedling can actually reduce the size of your pores by way of more collagen production. - Boost your skincare products:
That incredibly expensive face cream you love actually only penetrates 4-8% of the skin, according to a study in ScienceDirect. Microneedling actually helps your favorite products absorb better because of the thousands of tiny punctures in the skin.
Microneedling Procedures
Microneedling comes in more than just one method of treatment. Our guests will have the option to also do a PRP (Vampire) Facial or StemFacial. These offer similar benefits, but just depend on your individual needs.
StemFacial
A StemFacial is a special application that combines the amazing rich protein from stem cells with a special process that allows the skin to absorb the serum more deeply and efficiently. When the skin is readily able to absorb the nutrient-rich serum, it responds by improving elasticity, firmness, and also gives you a healthier glow. This protein-rich formula helps with the appearance of a smoother texture. It can also even your skin tone and can diminish acne scars. The serum contains both hyaluronic acid and stem cell cytokines, along with growth factors. It also includes a multitude of vitamins and peptides. If you have sensitive skin, ask your aesthetician or Registered Nurse if they feel this is a good choice for you, as each person depending on their skin conditions may or may not be a fit for this procedure. In most circumstances, you will be a good candidate. For clients with skin conditions such as aggravated rosacea or facial psoriasis, you’ll want to consult with our registered nurse first.
PRP Facial
The PRP Facial, also known as the Vampire Facial, is microneedling with PRP (platelet-rich-plasma) extracted straight from your blood, making this one of the most natural treatments you can receive. It starts with a little poke as our resident registered nurse draws a small vial of your blood, and then it is then spun in a centrifuge to separate into platelet-rich plasma. The microneedling session helps to stimulate collagen production and then a layer of your own platelet-rich plasma is applied to rouse the skin at a cellular level. This is the ultimate facial procedure for treating a variety of skin concerns!
SkinPen Treatment
The first microneedling device to be cleared by the FDA, SkinPen is your solution to tighten skin and clear scars caused by acne or other issues. This is great for the new mommy trying to firm up baby fat or for those still fighting acne scars left behind from the teenage days. SkinPen is an innovative treatment to include in your microneedling treatment that can improve your skin for up to six months.
SkinPen creates hundreds of microscopic punctures into your skin to stimulate its natural production of collagen, which ultimately promotes more youthful and healthier skin. Its natural ability to even out your skin’s tone and texture and improve firmness will leave you in awe of what this microneedling treatment can do!
