It’s no secret Botox is everyone’s favorite remedy for wrinkles and frown lines. If you’re anything like me before taking the poke-to-the-forehead, I had a lot of questions and a few concerns. Colair Beauty Lounge and Med Spa operates under a medical director allowing access to clinical-strength products and an overall better quality experience.
So what exactly is Botox?
Contrary to what many believe—Botox isn’t shipped from heaven— rather, it is Botulinum toxin type A, a wonder drug made to smooth out lines by preventing muscles from contracting. Believe it or not Botox has been around for 100 years. Initially approved for treating eyelid spasms, Botox then went on to be used for bladder spasms and excessive sweating, then in 2002, it was approved by the FDA for treatment of wrinkles on the upper face.
What are the benefits?
There’s a reason why 6 million Botox treatments are administered each year. Botox is an obvious choice for folks looking for a highly effective, safe and fast option to fix age lines and wrinkles. There’s no downtime and you can go about your day like nothing happened immediately after your appointment at Colair Beauty Lounge and Med Spa. In addition to the fast results, Botox can actually help prevent future wrinkles and lines.
How to prep before your appointment
Make sure to talk about all of the vitamins, meds and supplements you’re currently taking with Colair’s registered nurse. Also, you may come with or without makeup, as the treatment area will be cleaned prior to injection.
During the procedure
After you’ve discussed the desired results with Colair’s RN, there’s a quick pinch from a thin needle (take it from this needle-hater, it’s not bad) and you’ll be in and out in matter of minutes. We can even provide a numbing cream for additional comfort.
After the procedure
Most often you will see the full effect of the treatment within 7-14 days. You’ll also have an excuse to skip spin class, as you won’t be able to work out that same day. Also, you can’t lay down to sleep within four hours after the procedure.
