What is Preventative Botox?

The fountain of youth may not exist, but science has gotten pretty darn close. There are plenty of products and treatments available that can help reverse or even stop the signs of aging. One of the most popular treatments is Botox.

Botox uses botulinum toxin injected into the skin to help reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. The toxin—that’s not toxic or harmful to the body—paralyzes the muscles, so they are more relaxed, creating less wrinkling and creasing in the skin.

There are two main types of Botox that we can help you with at Colair Beauty Lounge and Med Spa in Gilbert, AZ: preventative Botox and corrective Botox. Both do well in an effort to increase anti-aging and both contain their own properties depending on the solution you want.

What Is Preventative Botox?

One of the major preventative Botox benefits is that it prevents wrinkles before they set deep into the skin. The key is to get the treatment early before the face has many visible wrinkles or fine lines.

Preventative Botox uses the botulinum toxin to relax the muscles in the face. These paralyzed muscles prevent the skin from creasing and forming fine lines or wrinkles.

Before having the procedure, you’ll have a consultation with one of our registered nurses at Colair, where you’ll discuss possible side effects and aftercare instructions. During the Botox process, the specialist will identify the facial muscles to apply the Botox. The preventative Botox process takes only ten to thirty minutes.

How often do you need to do it? Preventative Botox isn’t something you do only once. It often takes a few sessions to yield initial results, and you’ll need to maintain the effects after the first visit.

When can you see results? It can take up to two weeks to see any initial changes. On average, it takes ten to twelve weeks for patients to see their desired results. And to maintain the results, you should get treatments about three to four times a year.

How much does it cost? On average, preventative Botox costs between $250 and $500 per session. The price depends on how many areas need to be treated as well as the dose required per injection.

Who Is a Good Candidate for This?

Firstly, the FDA has approved Botox for patients older than eighteen. For those looking to use Botox to prevent aging, many people get their first treatment in their mid-twenties.

Technically, you can receive Botox treatments in your early twenties, but at that time, it’s unlikely that wrinkles have formed or set into the skin. Preventative Botox decreases the chance of having wrinkles in the future.

Who should get preventative botox? Anyone who wants who’s looking to maintain their youth and fight wrinkles before they start.

Why You Should Consider Preventative Botox

Taking the preventative approach is easy the solution to stop early lines from becoming wrinkles. Starting Botox early, before wrinkles have the chance to set in, reduces the chance of having wrinkles in the future. You’re also less likely to have deep-set wrinkles.

You should consider getting preventative Botox fillers in your twenties because not only can it prevent the development of deep static facial lines, but it may also prevent wrinkles altogether. You also may save on high Botox costs down the line because there won’t be as many wrinkles to fight.

What Is Corrective Botox?

Corrective Botox has a similar goal as preventative Botox: to fight against the signs of aging, wrinkles, and deep lines. But corrective Botox is used when those signs have aging have already set into the skin.

The main goal of corrective Botox is to soften or make the lines disappear. The procedure makes the skin taut, which helps smooth it out. This is especially helpful when those deeper creases begin to set in.

Botox and fillers can also help with volume loss and thin skin as you age. The older we get, the thinner our skin becomes, not only making wrinkles more prominent but also causing us to lose the youthful plumpness our skin once had. Sagging skin may also become a concern.

Botox and fillers can combat these issues. Botox fights the fine lines and wrinkles, while corrective fillers can help add plumpness back to areas like our cheeks, marionette lines or lips.

The process between both versions of Botox is similar, where you’ll be in a professional medical room while one of our registered nurses injects the treatment. The whole process only takes ten to thirty minutes.

As for maintenance, you should receive a series of treatments about every twelve to sixteen weeks to maintain your results. The cost typically ranges between $250 and $600 at Colair depending on the location you need and the amount of Botox needed to correct the wrinkles.

Who Is a Good Candidate for This?

Those looking for corrective Botox treatments are better for people who already have deep-set wrinkles or fine lines on their skin. Most people begin seeking corrective Botox treatments in their mid to late thirties and is an increasingly popular treatment for those in their forties, fifties, and sixties. While there isn’t an upper age limit, health risks associated with advanced ages may make Botox not the best option.

When Corrective Is a More Appropriate Option

Corrective Botox is the more appropriate option if your skin is already showing signs of aging. Consider this if you have:

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Sagging skin
  • Loss of volume on your face and neck

This version can also be more appropriate if you’ve had unhealthy habits surrounding your skin, such as smoking, frequent use of tanning beds, and overexposure to the sun without using protective measures. All of these can lead to the formation of wrinkles and fine lines that Botox can then treat.

Reverse the Signs of Aging With Botox

Who says growing old gracefully can’t come with a little Botox? If you’re looking to reverse or prevent the signs of aging, you can do that with Botox. Both corrective and preventative Botox are great ways to help your skin look younger.

Pamper yourself and allow your inner beauty to shine through. At Colair Beauty Lounge and Med Spa, you can reverse and prevent signs of aging through Botox injections customized to your needs. Contact us to schedule a free consultation at our med spa in Gilbert to start your beauty journey.

So if you’re a 20-something and thinking that Botox isn’t something you need to consider for decades, think again. It’s basic beauty-instincts to follow certain anti-aging and preventive measures like wearing sunscreen, applying night cream and drinking water, but imagine altogether halting the development of wrinkles before they even start?

So, what is Botox? Contrary to what many believe—Botox isn’t shipped from heaven— rather, it is Botulinum toxin type A, a wonder drug made to smooth out lines by preventing muscles from contracting. Believe it or not Botox has been around for 100 years. Initially approved for treating eyelid spasms, Botox then went on to be used for bladder spasms and excessive sweating, then in 2002, it was approved by the FDA for treatment of wrinkles on the upper face. Located in Agritopia, Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa is your one-stop skincare destination and our experts are ready to answer your questions about Botox and other med spa services.  If you’re interested in learning more about the benefits of Botox or have questions, please do not hesitate to visit or call us at (480) 923-6138.

What are the Benefits of Getting a Facial Once a Month?

Facials, the ultimate luxury and act of pampering that you’re probably not doing enough. Have you wondered how often you should be getting facials? Usually people reserve facials for the most special of occasions, but did you know there’s a lot of benefits to getting monthly facials? Your skincare experts at Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa are here to explain.

The Skin Cycle is the process where skin cells regenerate and replace old skin cells, and any long-lasting results will take at least a full skin cycle to see. The average adult skin cycle is 28 days, and the very reason why professionals recommend monthly treatment is to ensure your skin progresses effectively through its full cycle of cell growth and exfoliation.

Many folks wait until it’s too late to get their next facial. They’ve woken up to a breakout or some skincare concern that’s now very visible, all of which could have been avoided beforehand with regular facials and the proper home care. Doing a treatment once a month ensures your skin is not clogged up with impurities, and that regeneration rate of skin cells is performing at its peak and not hampered by environmental or lifestyle factors. While getting regular treatments do a majority of the heavy lifting, facials also amplify the benefits of professional skin care products, as they work hand in hand to provide you with the best results possible.

Want to learn more about the benefits of getting a facial once a month? We’ve compiled a list of reasons for you to consider visiting Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa more often to take care of your skin and general well-being. Here are four benefits of scheduling regular facials every month.

1. Relaxation in the Hands of a Professional Aesthetician

Woman receiving facial treatment

This might seem like a no-brainer, but when you visit for a facial treatment at Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa you’ll not only be in the care of a licensed aesthetician, but our team receives extensive on-going training to stay up-to-date on the most advanced treatments available today. This means they’ll be able to address your skin with a professional and critical eye, and that means no guessing or trying when it comes to problem issues with your skin. By coming in once a month, one of our pros is maintaining your skin with clinical-grade products and techniques you just can’t apply at home.

2. Slow Down Signs of Aging and Skin Concerns

More than just an hour to relax, facials allow us to address skin concerns and combat aging. Regular facials promote collagen production, hydrate the skin and ultimately minimize fine lines and wrinkles. Products packed with antioxidants and nutrients along with exfoliation allows your face to fight aging. Facials can increase blood flow under the skin allowing renewal of skin cells. So if you need a remedy to combat signs of aging from developing sooner, receiving facials is an easy and effective solution.

3. Cleanses Deep Into Pores

Fire&ice facial

Not unlike visiting the dentist, you can brush your teeth at home all you want, but you’re just not going to clean like a professional. Clogged pores don’t stand a chance against an aesthetician. We can apply acids and toners to loosen up clogged pores and have professional tools designed just for extractions. At home extractions can lead to scarring and broken blood vessels and do more damage than good.

4. Regular Facials Address All Skin Issues

The average facial is about 45 minutes to one hour, and though they can show excellent results in that timeframe, you can’t expect a miracle in a single session (cue Skin Cycle lesson!). Concerns like sun spots, wrinkles and generally vibrant skin need regular facials. By way of certain products and techniques, we’re able to address all issues with your skin throughout regular treatments and following prescribed home care.

Want to learn more about Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa’s facials? Perhaps you’re not sure which one would be a good fit for you? We love answering questions and guiding clients to make the right choice to address their skincare concerns. Please visit our Gilbert, Arizona location or call us at (480) 923-6138

Poly-L-Lactic vs. Hyaluronic Acid for Your Skin

You’ve likely heard a lot of talk about acids in regard to skincare. Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa has the 411. As our skin ages, it gradually goes through structural and functional changes that can be addressed using both Poly-L-lactic acid or Hyaluronic acid.

The aging process can make many people lose confidence in themselves and cause them to become unhappy with their appearances. A safe and effective treatment plan can not only improve the look and feel of the skin, but also provide a valuable boost of self confidence.

In this post, we’ll explain the differences between the two materials and explain how they can be used to restore the skin’s youthful appearance.

Poly-L-lactic Acid

Lip injections in a syringePoly-L-lactic acid is an absorbable, semi-permanent compound that’s injectable as a dermal filler. It can be used to restore volume and gradually stimulate collagen formation. The FDA has approved Poly-L-lactic acid to correct facial fat loss, according to the National Center for Biotechnology Information.

It’s widely used for facial aesthetic enhancements, and it’s sometimes also used to improve skin laxity in other parts of the body.

When injected by one of our registered nurses, Poly-L-Lactic Acid stimulates your skin to produce more collagen. Your skin will naturally break the Poly-L-Lactic Acid down into water and carbon dioxide, which makes the effects of the treatment appear gradually over the course of a few months, according to the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.

Hyaluronic Acid

Colair nurse

Hyaluronic Acid is a substance that’s actually naturally produced in your body – mostly in your skin, connective tissues and eyes. Hyaluronic Acid helps your body retain water to keep your tissues hydrated and functioning properly. Hyaluronic Acid also helps our skin heal from wounds, and helps our skin stay healthy. Unfortunately, naturally occurring Hyaluronic Acid slows down as we age.

Luckily, there are lots of ways to supplement Hyaluronic Acid as we get older. Some people take a Hyaluronic Acid supplement or use skin products that contain Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic Acid can also be injected directly into the skin as a temporary dermal filler, with effects lasting for as long as a year in some patients, according to the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.

Both Poly-L-Lactic Acid and Hyaluronic Acid can be used to address signs of aging such as thinning of fat and skin that often cause a sunken appearance. For clients who are looking for a more youthful and refreshed appearance, these products are a safe and easy treatment that provide quick results.

If you’d like to learn more about Poly-L-Lactic Acid and Hyaluronic Acid, one of our registered nurses would be happy to explain the benefits and how they can help you personally achieve whatever skincare goal you may have. Using Botox for Crow’s Feet

The wonders of Botox never cease to amaze us at Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa. This miracle injectable is best known for smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles in the forehead. As time goes on, we’re learning more ways to apply Botox. Our most recent discovery? Crow’s feet. Learn how you can use Botox for Crow’s feet and ask yourself why you’ve only just discovered this!

What is Crow’s Feet?

Dysport crows feet

Those pesky lines that gather and deepen in the corners of our eyes, crow’s feet are difficult to address and treat. Crow’s feet appear when the skin loses elasticity and collagen, this happens as we grow older and just from genetics. And though they’re often referred to as “laughing lines”, they’re anything but funny.

There are a few reasons why crow’s feet appear. Repeated muscle movement through raising your brows, squinting and frowning cause facial lines.

Often folks attempt to correct crow’s feet with miracle creams and moisturizers, and though hydration and UV protection is important, there’s likely no product that really makes a difference.

Unlike most of the lines and wrinkles on your face, crow’s feet tend to pop up earlier and don’t discriminate against younger people. It’s not uncommon to see them appear on folks in their 20s. But Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa in Gilbert, Arizona is here to help with Botox.

Botox: The Medical Miracle

Woman giving botox injections.

Botox is used to stop the nerve signals and ceasing movement in certain muscles. This not only stops creasing from getting worse, but it also smooths out the lines and wrinkles. Botox is extremely safe, easy to administer and there’s virtually no down time.

So what can you expect when treating crow’s feet with Botox? Going into this, you should know that Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa only works with actual medical professionals for applying injections like Botox. You can rest easy that you’re in the hands of a seasoned and skilled pro.

One of our staff, a registered nurse, will talk you through the process of Botox for crow’s feet and examine your face to align expectations. The treatment is relatively fast, only taking about 10 minutes. With a very fine needle, the RN will inject around your eyes which relaxes the muscle and smooths the skin out.

What to Expect After Using Botox for Crow’s Feet

After your treatment you’ll be able to go right home. You can wear makeup and even wash your face. Though we’d ask you not to rub the skin around your eyes or hit the gym and partake in a lot of activity. You’ll likely not see results for a few days, but results typically last for four months or even longer.

Want to learn more about treating crow’s feet with Botox? Visit or call Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa for a free consultation or allow us to answer any questions you might have. We can be reached at (480) 618-7616.

The Importance of Wearing Sunscreen in the Fall and Winter

Your beauty authorities at Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa have some news for you. Sunscreen isn’t just for summer. Did you grow up thinking you only slathered on sunblock when you’re in the scorching sun of summer? We’ve learned more about the harmful effects of the sun. With that information, we’ve also learned that it’s not simply the summer sun that’s an issue.

The sun gives up two types of rays, UVA and UVB. When it comes to the damage that they cause, each targets a different issue. The easiest way to remember what each does is by connecting the last letter to a word. Think of UVA, and A for aging. UVB, think of B for burning.

Now, while nobody likes to age prematurely, there’s another reason for avoiding both UVA and UVB rays, and that’s because too much sun exposure without the right protection can lead to skin cancer. It’s easy to think of summer as the time we need sunblock the most, because we’re outside more, maybe in short sleeves, and thinking about the warmth of the sun.

The simple fact is that UVA and UVB rays are present year-round. Just because the temperature is cooler, doesn’t mean the UV rays go away! Protecting your skin from the damaging effects of the sun is important.

UV rays are still present on cloudy days. They can penetrate your car’s windows. They may not be as strong, but they are still present.

Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa tries and tests a ton of products to bring you the very best options. We’ve landed on iS Clinical for our favorite SPF. It stays on and is unmatched for protection from the sun’s dangerous rays.

By applying a good, quality sunblock, you’re protecting your skin from these harmful rays. And let’s be honest, who wants to age prematurely? The sun damage and wrinkles, along with hyperpigmentation issues can be slowed down by using sunscreen.

Whether you use a regular sunblock or a product that has sunblock in it, be sure to check the SPF which tells you how it’s rated for UVB rays. UVA rays aren’t accounted for in the SPF rating. One of the things people confuse when talking about SPF is what it actually does. This is a measurement based on time. It tells you how long it will take your skin to react or burn vs. without sunscreen. The interesting thing is that an SPF of 30 is the recommended rating (Mayo Clinic). While there are SPFs with higher numbers, the change in how long they last is minimal after a certain point.

How to Prevent Breakouts Caused by Masks

One of the oddities that’s come out of the pandemic is the continual need to wear a mask when going out. It’s an adjustment that doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon, and yet, it’s giving people an issue that they might not have dealt with in a while. New acne breakouts aren’t exactly a major issue for most folks once they pass a certain age, but with masks, that’s becoming a new norm. It’s like being a teenager again. Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa is here to help.

First, it’s important to understand how the mask is trapping dirt beneath it, and then to understand why exfoliating the area is so important.

One of the ways that we get acne has to do with our skin cells blocking pores. When your dead skin cells slough off and you exfoliate, you remove them from your face. In the case of wearing a mask, any skin cells that slough off during the day, rather than being able to fall away, they stay in place due to the mask. They stick to the surface of your skin like glue, which in turn blocks your pores.

When your pores are covered, bacteria, dirt, and grime can be trapped beneath the cells that aren’t removed. These closed, blocked pores are a ripe ground for bacteria to then thrive and develop into acne.

After you get home, be sure to cleanse your face immediately and exfoliate the areas that the mask covered. This helps remove those surface layers of dead skin cells and allows your pores to breathe freely without this sticky surface covering. We can assist you in finding the perfect cleanser and toner at Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa.

Now, the layers are so fine at times that you may not see it with the naked eye, so it may not seem important since it isn’t obvious. Just because you can’t visibly see the process happening, doesn’t mean you’re clean and clear. Our skin sheds cells all day long, and they are microscopic, so they may not be noticeable to you.

Want to take things a step further? Consider our DiamondGlow Treatment. Formally known as Dermalinfusion, DiamondGlow Treatment is a pore cleaning miracle facial treatment. It literally vacuums your pores while delivering a deeply hydrating serum.

So, remember, when you’re wearing a mask, those itty-bitty skin cells are sticking in place, clogging up your pores, and trapping in bacteria. A good cleanser and exfoliation can help you clean your face and rid your skin of the excess debris and cells that are stuck like glue to your pores. It’s a simple fix for a frustrating problem.

Want to learn more about keeping your pores clear? Visit Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa and allow us to answer all of your questions about DiamondGlow Treatment and the incredible skincare products we sell. (480) 923-6138

Have Melasma? Try a PRP Facial

After the dog days of summer are over and your sun-kissed glow sadly fades away, do you ever have patches of tan that never quite leave? Well, these brownish-gray blotches have a name— Melasma. Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa is here to help.

Colair client receiving PRP facial treatment

They can show up on your forehead, chin, cheeks, lips, and nose. And they might be around for the long-haul. According to Harvard Medical’s Dr. Barbara Gilchrest, “Women who develop melasma in their teens or 20s or 30s may see it stay around for decades.”

If you’re like us, you’ve taken time in quarantine to bring your skincare game to the next level. If you’re still seeing skin discoloration and dark patches on your face after all your face masks and serums, read on to learn about Melasma and how you can treat it.

What is Melasma?

When pigment cells in your skin start overproducing, it can cause dark spots that are larger than freckles or age spots. This is Melasma, sometimes referred to as “the mask of pregnancy” because it often (although not always) occurs in pregnant women. It’s a painless condition that doesn’t present any health risks which more likely to get Melasma if you’re a woman or have darker skin.

If you’ve noticed darker splotches on your face, you’re not alone–nearly 6 million American women are in the same boat.

What Causes Melasma?

Melasma is a skin condition that causes the appearance of spots and patches that are darker than your natural skin tone. These usually appear on the face as tan, brown, gray-brown, or blue-gray patches or freckles.

The epidermis, the outermost layer of skin, contains cells called melanocytes that produce and store pigment known as melanin. The melanocytes produce more melanin when exposed to heat, light, ultraviolet radiation, or certain elevated hormone levels.

Here are other factors that can cause or aggravate melasma:

  • Birth control pills
  • Pregnancy
  • Synthetic estrogen
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Genetics
  • LED lights
  • Phototoxic drugs (that make you sensitive to sunlight such as diuretics, antibiotics, or NSAIDS)
  • Certain soaps or skin care products
  • Tanning beds

Women with medium to dark skin tones are more likely to develop melasma symptoms than fair-skinned women. Melasma is a disorder that is most commonly developed in women, who develop 90% of the cases.

There are lots of things that can cause Melasma, but the two most common triggers are:

  • Hormones: Hormone fluctuations, like those during pregnancy or when starting new birth control, can cause Melasma.
  • Sun Exposure: We all know the sun is the enemy of youthful skin, and here’s just one more reason to use SPF. The sun can cause Melasma or worsen existing cases.

Vampire facial at Colair

Treatments for Melasma

There are ways to reduce and even eliminate Melasma. Do you remember that slightly terrifying insta of Kim K getting her “vampire blood” facial? Well, that was a form of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP). Recent studies have found that PRP is actually a very effective treatment for Melasma.

  • Platelet-Rich Plasma is basically a superfood for your skin cells. When injected into the skin’s membrane, it adds a boost of collagen and stimulates new blood vessels and cell growth. You’ll see results are just 2-3 injections.
  • Microneedling is another minimally invasive solution for melasma. PRP and Microneedling are like Batman and Robin–they work better together.

Using the Vampire Facial to Treat Melasma

Vampire facials use the body’s own platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, to create an environment that stimulates healing. The growth and healing factors in the PRP injections are one of the strongest growth factors in the body, which help heal the skin. The use of platelet-rich plasma is a proven therapy for melasma treatment and led to the development of the vampire facial.

What Is the Vampire Facial?

A vampire facial is a cosmetic procedure that uses the platelets of your own blood to treat melasma and other skin imperfections. The injections of the blood into the face stimulate collagen regrowth.

Here are the steps involved in a vampire facial:

1.   Skin professional preps skin

2.   Blood is drawn from your arm

3.   Blood is centrifuged to separate platelets

4.   Your platelet-rich plasma is injected, with a tiny needle, into areas of your skin that need treatment

How Does It Work?

Once the plasma is injected into your face with a PRP facial, it triggers your body’s natural response to restore the skin.

The growth factors in the plasma help speed the healing process.

Why It’s Worth Trying

The results are clear—vampire facials are effective in treating melasma. They offer a myriad of other reasons to try it.

Microneedling for Melasma

Microneedling makes tiny wounds in the skin that stimulate collagen production.

This does two things: it allows topical treatments to penetrate deeper and work better, and it stimulates the production of collagen. So you can get rid of Melasma and reduce your wrinkles in one fell swoop.

It can help treat melasma, but when you combine microneedling with injections of platelet-rich plasma, the results are impressive.

When you add PRP on top of microneedling, you’ll get a dynamic duo that will wow you with the results. One last word of warning before you make your appointment–Melasma is known to come back, every now and then. If you don’t want to do this whole process twice, don’t forget the golden rule of skincare: SPF, SPF, SPF!

Understanding Vitamin Therapy

Our bodies regularly get vitamins through nutrition and supplements, but what happens when you need a boost because your immune system or metabolism is sluggish? There are multiple ways to increase your dosage of certain vitamins, but there’s a catch. Even though you’re putting vitamins into your body via eating healthy, there’s a limit to how much your body can absorb at one given time.

Did you know that the way that food breaks down, you’re only absorbing about 50 percent of those vitamins that you ingested? There’s a better way that allows your body to absorb more of what you need—in fact, it offers a 90 percent absorption rate.

Vitamin Therapy at Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa is an option that puts you in the driver’s seat. With this method of vitamin delivery, you can invest in your body by getting more of what you intended.

Not only do you get higher absorption, but it works faster, so you’ll enjoy the benefits quicker and more efficiently.

Have you heard of Lipotropic injections? These are injections that introduce a highly specialized dose of ingredients to help target cholesterol issues, fat issues, along with helping to detox the body. They do this, all while helping boost your metabolism.

They start with a base of B12, which we all know is great for your body, but are you familiar with other B vitamins, or only the “popular ones” that get spoken about. Have you heard of Inositol? This is also known as B8, though it doesn’t get the same exposure that B12 or B6 does, you’ll want to know about the benefits this B vitamin can do for your body. Here’s a neat tip, it’s actually a sugar! But, this sugar does great things like helping your cell membranes, helps metabolize fat, and aids in nerve synapses. It also helps with serotonin levels and interacts with insulin. In fact, Healthline states that… “research suggests that additional inositol in the form of supplements may have numerous health benefits.”

What other ingredients will you find in B12-MIC IV ?

The C in MIC is Choline. According to Medical News Today, Choline supports DNA synthesis, helps metabolize fat, and helps with cell maintenance.

The M stands for Methionine. This is an essential amino acid you find in things like meat and dairy. This important nutrient acts as an antioxidant to help detoxify your body. According to the National Library of Medicine, this powerhouse also is… “required for growth and tissue repair…and is involved in many detoxifying processes…protects cells from pollutants, slows cell aging…”

Because it’s an injected source of vitamins, there are a few important things to know before getting started. First, always work with a practitioner that is both well-qualified and that you trust. Also, with it being an injection, it’s always smart to consult with your doctor to make sure you don’t have any contraindications such as kidney disease because people with kidney disease lack the proper filtration that your body needs to process excess minerals. It’s always important to know what your body is deficient in. Know what you’re lacking, so you can seek out sources that will help you. Take your health back into your hands and find solutions that are effective and can help you feel better.

Vitamin Therapy has been around for over 50 years. The more we learn about potent combinations, the more we’re able to create specialized mixtures that enhance and help our bodies.

If you’d like to know more about Nutrient and Vitamin Therapy and how it can help you, please visit or call Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa (480) 923-6138.

Chemical Peel Aftercare Tips

A good chemical peel can do wonders. In the hands of a trained professional, a series of skin-friendly chemicals are applied to your skin to help with skin texture, reduce pore size and lighten pigmentation. At Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa, we offer a few similar treatments, including our VI Chemical Peels.

Here’s a few great tips for after your peel, so you can get the best results from your treatment.

1. Don’t Touch or Pick at Your Skin

One of the biggest battles after your chemical peel will be fighting the urge to scratch, pull or pick at your skin. Doing this can lead to scarring, which is counterproductive.

2. Moisturize

You’ll want to ditch your usual skincare routine. Moisturizer and sunscreen are all you’ll need. Make sure you’re applying face cream throughout the day which helps with the peeling process.

3. Avoid Wearing Dark Clothing:

If you’re not wanting to look like you survived a snowstorm, avoid dark clothes whilst peeling. Go for something light, because dead skin loves dark clothing and that isn’t cute.

Want to hear more about the benefits of chemical peels and the facials at Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa? We’d love to have you in our incredible Gilbert, Arizona location and show you around. Please swing by or call us at (480) 923-6138.

Dermal Filler Myths

If you’re not familiar with the magic of dermal fillers, hear our praises for this incredible treatment to handle loss of volume in the cheeks, lips and nose folds. Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa in Gilbert, Arizona uses dermal fillers on all types of patients with a variety of skin concerns. Today, we’re going to address a few myths we’ve heard about dermal fillers.

They Hurt

Like anything to do with a needle, there’s a bit of a pinch involved. BUT, our staff (which includes a registered nurse) will apply topical ointments to numb the area, making it as comfortable as possible.

They’re Made of Silicon

That’s a terrifying thought. Dermal fillers are usually made of hyaluronic acid, which is the farthest thing from silicon. It’s actually a substance that is naturally produced in your body. With time, they naturally dissolve into your system with zero side effects. Dermal fillers are FDA-approved.

It’ll Give Me Duck Lips

So you want dermal fillers, but you’re terrified of coming out with permeant “duck lips”? This is something we hear ALL THE TIME. The difference with working with a well-trained professional, like the ones at Colair Beauty Lounge & Med Spa is that we’re able to navigate a more natural look. Our staff is constantly receiving training and further education to assist you.
